SWOT Analysis is a strategic planning tool used to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats involved in a project or in a business venture. It involves specifying the objective of the business venture or project and identifying the internal and external factors that are favorable and unfavorable to achieving that objective.

The aim of any SWOT analysis is to identify the key internal and external factors that are important to achieving the objective. SWOT analysis groups key pieces of information into two main categories:

Internal factors - The strengths and weaknesses internal to the organization.

External factors - The opportunities and threats presented by the external environment.

The internal factors may be viewed as strengths or weaknesses depending upon their impact on the organizations objectives. What may represent strengths with respect to one objective may be weaknesses for another objective. The factors may include all of the 4Ps; as well as personnel, finance, manufacturing capabilities, and so on. The external factors may include macroeconomic matters, technological change, legislation, and socio-cultural changes, as well as changes in the marketplace or competitive position. The results are often presented in the form of a matrix.

SWOT analysis is just one method of categorization and has its own weaknesses. For example, it may tend to persuade companies to compile lists rather than think about what is really important in achieving objectives. It also presents the resulting lists uncritically and without clear prioritization so that, for example, weak opportunities may appear to balance strong threats.

All of us folks who are lucky enough to already have an iPhone know how much fun they can be just to play around with. Playing with my iPhone a lot myself, I have discovered some cool tips and tricks that you may find useful.

1. If you tap once at the very top of the screen when you are on the internet, it will take you back to the top of the window rather than having to scroll all the way back up. A nice time saving feature.

2. If you set the font to the smallest size, you can read more in the internet window. An advantage of this is that when you want to click a link, you can pinch (expand) that area and the link will come up very large, making it much easier to click.

3. Rather than posting the full address of internet sites in bookmarks, you can post the equivalent RSS address instead into Apple’s RSS reader and save that as your bookmark. This way you can quickly see if there’s anything interesting on your favorite site rather than downloading the whole homepage.

4. If you are writing something and the iPhone flags a word as misspelled that you know is not misspelled, cancel the correction 3 times and the word will be put into the dictionary. If you write a lot, this feature is quite useful!

5. The magnifying glass is a nice iPhone tool when you are typing an email or any other text. If you tap once and hold, a magnifying glass will pop up showing you a zoomed in view of your words and cursor. You can now easily place the cursor wherever you want. This makes editing your writing very easy.

6. You can move icons around, but not on the home screen. You have to go to the ipod section. Go to iPod > More > Edit. Now you can drag your icons all around. This can also be done in the phone section.

7. To reset your iphone, hold down the right button and the “home” front button for about 6 seconds. To power it back on, push the top button. This is different than a regular shutdown, which can be done easily by holding the sleep/wake button for 6 seconds.

8. If you get a lot of spam e-mail or other unwanted e-mail, pay attention to this time saving feature. Add a link to Yahoo mail in Safari bookmarks. From there you can check ‘delete all’ to remove all unwanted e-mails. This is much easier than deleting hundreds of spam e-mails one at a time.

I hope you found these iphone tips helpful. If you have an iPhone and have been wondering how best to fill it up with music and movies, check out Top iPhone Downloads for the latest reviews of iPhone download sites.

Diabetes mellitus, commonly known as diabetes, is one of the most leading causes of death worldwide. According to an estimate, around 20.8 million people in the United States are suffering with diabetes.

Diabetes can be briefly explained as a metabolic syndrome where the human body is unable to absorb and utilize its main source of fuel even though the blood contains large amounts of glucose. This occurs when the body is unable to produce or properly use insulin, a hormone that is required to convert glucose into energy.

According to the World Health Organization, there are three different forms of diabetes that include Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes. All these three forms of diabetes have different causes, different complications and occur in different types of population.

Different Types of Diabetes:

Type 1 Diabetes: This is an autoimmune disease that is characterized by the inability of the human body to produce insulin due to loss of insulin-producing beta cells of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. Also known as juvenile diabetes, this disease occurs primarily in children.

Type 2 Diabetes: This is a metabolic disorder that is characterized by the inability of body to produce insulin in adequate quantities or the failure of cells. Even conditions like reduced insulin sensitivity or insulin resistance are considered as Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form that accounts for 90-95 percent of diabetic cases.

Gestational Diabetes: This disease is almost similar to Type 2 diabetes. However, it differs in the population distribution. Gestational diabetes primarily occurs in about 2 percent to 5 percent of all pregnant women. It usually disappears after delivery. Untreated gestational diabetes can be increasingly dangerous both for the fetus and the mother. In case of the fetus, it can result in complications that include macrosomia, congenital cardiac and central nervous system abnormalities, respiratory distress syndrome, hyperbilirubinemia, skeletal muscle malformation and even death.

There are also certain other types of diabetes that occur due to genetic mutations that lead to defective beta cell function or secretion of inactive insulin. Even damage to the pancreas as a result of an injury, diseases such as cystic fibrosis and chronic pancreatitis or usage of synthetic drugs can cause diabetes. Diabetes can also occur as a result of diseases that are associated with increased secretion of insulin-antagonistic hormones such as glucagon.

Like all mechanical things, a bike has to be maintained and has to be kept in peek condition at all times. It’s a well known practice of taking a bike for a thorough maintenance checkup at a dealership. By regularly visiting the same dealership you know you won’t be scammed and your bike is assured excellent service. Hence the first tip is to find a servicing dealership you can rely on. Always fix an appointment with your mechanic and have him go over with you what needs to be done for the bike. With him giving you a checklist on your bike, you can keep these things in mind before each ride.

Most often a bike’s battery is the issue. You should know the basic ways of taking care of a motorcycle’s battery. Breakdowns often happen by and large in areas where you won’t find a servicing shop. Hence it’s important to keep your tools handy and ready with you at all times, especially on long distance journeys. Develop a habit of checking your bike before leaving for any destination. Adhering to a monthly or even a quarterly service check can prove beneficial someday.

Tires are another important reason why most bike’s breakdown. Keeping them well inflated, regularly checking the air pressure, keeping a close watch out for cuts and scrapes on the tire, replacing them sooner rather than later, makes a world of difference towards your bikes performance. A thorough checkup of the two break fluid reservoirs which flow to the front and back breaks should be done.

Make your bike fuel efficient. Ensuring that correct engine oil is used will add to the smooth performance of the bike. A thorough test for oil leakages should be done along with checking the oil levels each day before getting on the bike. While cleaning the surface of the bike, cover the ignition unit and silencer with plastic sheets so that they remain undamaged. Cleaning the bike helps maintain the surfaces finish.

The chain, the sprocket and the pinion are three essential features of the bike and if not well maintained, you may end up shelling out more money to have them replaced. Place a newspaper around the area surrounding the chain so as not to dirty the other areas. The chain should be well lubricated and spinning the back tire ensures the sprocket and pinion are also lubricated. This process is best done when the chain is still warm after a ride.

There are some people who manage to have shiny bikes all the time. Using a toothbrush in between spokes is also an effective method or you can even use a shoe buffing brush. Soapy water is effective when mixed with paraffin when washing the bike. While cleaning be careful with the internal wiring as they are prone to short circuits if not done correctly. Keep a look out for loose wiring, missing bolts, loose screws, leakages, battery corrosion and other nitty-gritty details. Thus ensuring happy riding. How

Everyone know that the secrets to world of warcraft gold farming is buy low and sell high right? After all every real life economy is built around this principle so why should WoW be any different right? Most of the techniques on how to make gold in wow today stem from years of information infused into the community from every wow gold guide out there. But is this the real secret to wealth about world of warcraft gold farming? Here are 3 mistakes most people make it comes to running an auction house alt.

1. They Use their Main Character to Farm, items, Mats etc. While this technique works, it makes the game boring, real fast. Why? Because it changes the way you play the game. All of a sudden the game becomes more about the auction alt, then your main character. Now you got your main running all over Azeroth feeding your lowbie alt with everything you can chuck at him. Your game now has shifted, it no longer is about raids, end game instances, it has become all about this lowbie auction alt. The next thing you know is a week or 2 later the game becomes utterly boring. It really should be about your alt feeding your main, freeing up his time so you can enjoy the game the way it’s supposed to be enjoyed.

2. Posting too Many Lots At Once. When you sitting on 10 different stacks of ghost mushrooms, you gain nothing by posting all these stacks up on the auction house at the same time. Not only do you take the chance of all of them not selling, which will cost you auction re-listing fees (eating your profits) but you kill demand. You make it seem like this stuff is way to easy to get, after all there is 10 different stacks of this same item from the same seller. It gets harder if you do this to get the price you want, or the price that this item deserves if you post too many lots up at once, stick to 3 or 4, no more.

3. Buying Blues and Greens for Re-sale. What? This is the backbone of the whole idea of buying low and selling high. When you see a green or blue item for a deal, you snatch it up and re-sell it for a profit. Yes, and No. But there’s a better way. Selling greens and blues for resale, only means you fell into the trap every wow gold guide told you.

To prove that all the secrets behind what you have been told about world of warcraft gold farming are false, I took up a challenge I call the 30 Day Speed Gold Run Challenge. The challenge is simple, see how much gold I can make in 30 days on a brand new server, WITHOUT any help from high levels characters and WITHOUT any skills, using only Lowbie Alts. How did I do?

Everyone playing Warcraft these days is looking around trying to figure out how to learn to get gold as cheaply as possible. In this article I am going to tell you about a way that I have found to get gold cheap that has worked for me.

The method entails using your professions to the max. For example you can mine and skin. The mining will help you find rocks and the skinning will help you skin animals. You quest doing this then afterwards go to the auction house and sell your gatherings. This is going to help you get gold because the higher levels don’t want to try to gather these things for themselves they would rather buy them at the auction. That’s where you step in and make some gold!

Grinding also helps you get gold cheap in Warcraft. But questing is such a better way to go about it. When you go a quest you will get gold after you complete it. If you are a higher level you will get more gold in the end. Sometimes your enemies will drop items so keep on the look for that and pick them up! Once again you can sell those items back at a house and make some gold!

After you make some gold use it to power level if you are a crafter. Crafters can make items that will sell and make them more money.

These were just a few tips that will help you get gold cheap in Warcraft. It’s now up to you to put them to use!

Nowadays, there are all sorts of free download available over the internet. Entertainment media like games, movies, music and TV shows are the most popular. Done properly, they benefit both the providers and consumers in the long run. In the case of Nintendo, it saves the Wii gamers heaps if they know How to Download Free Wii Games online.

Strictly speaking, straight FOC (free-of-charge) Nintendo Wii game download is not a norm. Why should Nintendo let them be? Given its immense popularity, the games are the core money-spinners of the moment for them. As a matter of fact, they apply full intellectual property protection on their Wii games. So is there now still a way on How to Download Free Wii Games online? You bet!

Yes, there are still Nintendo Wii games that are absolutely free to be found on the net. Then again, it’s better to steer clear of them as they are likely to be illegal, of sub-standard quality and laden with virus and malware. Others would require soft installation and even hard modification to the extent that unless you’re into technology rather than video gaming, you’ll burn out in the pursuit.

Without re-inventing the wheel, the ready-made solution to How to Download Free Wii Games is membership sites which give a lifetime of unlimited free access of all kinds of media including video games. Although the download of Wii games is free at such sites, a one-time joining fee is required. However, competition is keen so the amount is usually very reasonable.

Even for those who are only occasional gamers or where only a few games in particular are sought, downloading Wii games is still viable. There is a per-download online option at only a fraction of the cost of the discs from the game stores. But by and large, Wii fanciers go on for more after a while even if they started out lukewarm and quite typically upgrade to unlimited access membership in due course.

It is easy to find Wii Download Services on the internet but this is where one needs to tread with caution. In the haste onto the bandwagon of this hugely popular service, many contenders have run ahead of themselves, thus falling short on commitments to their subscribed members. Worse still, some are just out to pull a fast one on those who are not wise to such tactics. In truth, there are but only a precious few of them who are worth their salt.

No need to despair, a few simple tips will set you safely on How to Download Free Wii Games. Find a provider which offers full money-back guarantee with no questions asked, software, tools and accessories with no extra charge, all media including games, movies, music and TV shows and 24/7 support and service, and you are then on the right track. If it’s also powered by secure retailers such as Clickbank, you are in safe hands.

There are a number of tricks and shortcuts that are fairly well known among people that have been using Windows a lot over the last 14 years of it’s existence. However, we tend to take it for granted that everyone knows these things, when in fact they don’t.

Some of these functions are documented in the Windows help files, but I’ve noticed (with our secretary and my colleagues, for example) that most people never read the help files. I suppose they are kinda boring…

So with out further ado, here are some turbo tips for Windows:

(If a key name is in bold, it means you HOLD IT DOWN while pressing the other keys)

1. Windows key (the one with the flying window on it) and E will open Windows explorer, instead of right clicking the My Computer Icon on the desktop and then clicking Explore. Very useful if your desktop is full of open windows and you wnat to get another explorer window open.

2. Ctrl B for making marked text bold

3. Ctrl C to copy marked text to the clipboard

4. Ctrl V to paste that text into a new document.

5. Ctrl A selects All; either all text in a document, or all files in Explorer.

6. Alt Prt Sc to copy the presently open window to the clipboard. You can then use Ctrl V to paste it, as a jpeg image, into a document, or a photo editing program.

7. Crtl Shift Esc will open Task manager, where you can see what processes are running, and stop them if they are misbehaving and won’t close. Task manager also gives you a graph which shows how hard your CPU and memory are working.

8. In Windows Explorer and in Outlook Express (and other programs) if you click on the column headings, it will sort the whole thing according to the alphabetic/numeric order of that column. Clicking it again will reverse sort it.

9. Clicking a word of text twice will highlight (ie mark) that word. Clicking the word three times in quick succession will select the whole sentence, line or paragraph. (Depending on your text editor)

10. In Windows Explorer, if you hold your Ctrl key down, you can click on numerous, random files and select them, even if they are not contiguous (For foreign readers, this means: one after the other)

If any one wants to buy a laptop, what do they do? They step in to a local store and see 70 to 80 different laptops ranging from $500 to $1000 and get stuck in making a decision. So this is what you may want to do.

The most important factors to be considered when buying a laptop are

1.	Processor

2.	Ram

3.	Size of the screen

4.	Hard disk capacity

5.	Wireless Networking

Processor: If you have a heavy use for you laptop like data transfer and Data base management, graphic design and others you may not want to go for some thing less then 2 Ghz. For normal users who do not have such sort of bulk usage a normal laptop may be handy.

Ram: Ram come in 256MB 512MBand more. The 256MB is outdated for the present laptop usage trend. The 512MB is ok for the normal users. If you have heavy usage you need to have more than 512MB.

Screen Size: When it comes to the Screen Size, most low cot laptops have low pixel rates which are ok for the normal users. But you can buy more if need be.

Hard Disk: Normal Laptops come with 40 GB Hard Disk. If you are some one who stores more data, software and mp3 files and videos, it is recommended to buy a 80 GB Hard Disk.

Optical Drives: Laptops come with three different options. They are CD - DVD reader, CD writer and the DVD writer. DVD writer is the smart option any one should go for because you can make a lot of backups easily and make your own DVDs.

Wireless Networking: Most of the Laptops come with wireless Networking. It can give you access to the internet and wireless networks. Make sure your laptop has 802.11g wireless network.

Conclusion: “If you are a normal user go for a cheap laptop with 512MB Ram and if you a heavy user, make sure it has all the features discussed above.”

Topic 1 ~ Your Email Subject Lines ~

How To Write A Good E-mail Subject Lines That Works?

Here are the 5 tips:

1. Ask a question. One of the best ways to get a reader’s attention is to ask a question. But like a trial lawyer questioning a witness on the stand, make sure it’ll get you the response you’re looking for. “What’s the best way to grow your business?” is a great subject line for business owners. After all, what business owner wouldn’t want to grow his or her business? Or let’s say you run a health club. An e-mail with the subject line, “How can you lose 5 pounds in one month?” would certainly be compelling. It’s important your question be relevant to your audience.

2. Be a tease. A clever subject line can be enticing. When it’s done right, reader curiosity is piqued. They want to know more–and they’ll open your e-mail. Writing a teaser-style subject line requires some creativity, and your content needs to deliver. A company that sells high-definition TVs could use the subject line, “You’re not going to believe your eyes” as a teaser to introduce a new addition to their product line.

3. Tell it like it is. Often, what works best is to say exactly what you want your reader to know. Examples of this straightforward approach are, “Sale on all sweaters this weekend,” “Master jazz pianist plays live this Friday” and “The seven secrets of a profitable business.” This just-the-facts approach works especially well when you can appeal directly to your audience’s interests. It’s also the best approach to use when you send a newsletter.

4. Remember “WIIFM”. When a person gets your e-mail, the first thing they consider is “what’s in it for me?” They have a decision to make. Do they open your e-mail, leave it for later or delete it? If there isn’t something about the subject line that lets them know why it’s worth their precious time to see what’s inside, then the choice will be clear. Keep WIIFM in mind when creating every aspect of your e-mails, including the offer, content, images–and most definitely the subject line. It’s all about them. They know that; just make sure you know it, too.

5. Get personal. The more you can make each contact feel you’re speaking directly to them, the more effective your communication will be. Whatever style of subject line you use, you can make it personal by using the word “you.” Professional copywriters know the secret of using this powerful little word. Just look at the advertisements, mail and e-mail you receive. A few examples are, “Find the right swimsuit for you,” “You can save 50 percent on travel,” and “You’d look phenomenal in a custom-tailored suit.” “You” is ideal, but “your” works too.

6. Not sure which approach is right for you? Try them all, and then show a friend or colleague to get their feedback. Pick the one you believe will be most effective for your audience. Whichever approach you choose, it’s always worth spending the time and effort to write a great subject line. Because if your readers don’t open your e-mail, they’ll never have the chance to read the important message you’ve created for them inside.

Topic 2 ~ Increase Click-Through Rate (CTR) ~

How to Increased Click-Through Rate (CTR)?

Here are some guidelines:

1. Include a feature, a benefit, and an advantage in the opening. This needs to be used in a subtle way, but in the opening you’re really doing a small marketing job for this issue of your email newsletter. Highlight an article or two that are important, explain what you’re providing the readers that they won’t get elsewhere, and tell them what the benefit will be. A great example is something like “Nokia and Sprint announced second quarter earnings today. Learn what our Wireless Week experts say about the results, and what effect you can expect them to have on the industry at large.”

2. Put the email newsletter in the context of your readers’ day. This goes hand in hand with the last point. Your readers are busy, and if you can make a compelling case for why they should stop what they are doing and take a few minutes now to read your email newsletter, you’ll get them in. We recommend editors reference important events, upcoming trade shows, or other things that say to the reader “You will find it worthwhile to stop and read this email newsletter now, because the information in it will help you stay on top of your business.”

3. Keep it fresh. Don’t craft a “perfect paragraph” and use it issue after issue after issue. One of the keys to success is to keep the copy fresh and highlight items in that issue of the email newsletter. If you use the same generic language repeatedly, people will stop reading it and it’ll be a waste of your time.

4. Keep it short. This is critical. We recommend no more than two to three sentences — just enough to get them interested and pull them in to read the rest of your email newsletter.

Try it out and see the results! This is just one of the simple things you can do to engage your reader and optimize your CTR.

Topic 3 ~ Killer Email Sales Letter ~

How to Write Killer Email Sales Letter That Get Results?

Here are what we’ve found works best. Use these tips properly and your results will skyrocket.

1. Your email “from” sender line should be your brand name or company name and stay consistent. Use your own personal name only if that is your brand image.

2. Send emails only when you have something to say that will benefit the reader. No fluff. No filler. You must be relevant. If you can’t be, don’t send an email until you have something beneficial to say.

3. Start your emails with the specific benefit the reader can get from your message. You have no more than 3 seconds to pass the crucial “what’s in it for me?” test.

4. The copywriting tone and language should be personal and conversational, instead of stuffy and “corporate”.

5. Make a specific offer to the reader and, if possible, include a short deadline by which he must respond to get it.

6. Use as much copy as is needed to fully pile on all the benefits the reader will get by ordering, answer objections, create urgency, and close the sale.

7. Test your subject lines and offers on small segments of your list before you send the email to your entire list.

8. Include “Email this to a friend” service in all your communications for pass along and viral marketing.

Topic 4 ~ Good Call-to-Action ~

Get More Clicks With a Good Call-to-Action!

The call-to-action is a determining factor of your click-through rate. It is an important component of your email copy because it answers three important questions for the recipient. They are:

1. What you want them to do

2. Why they should do it, and

3. How to take that next step.

Whatever action you want your recipients to take, you can make it happen more often with a good call-to-action. First, decide what you want them to do:

1. Buy something

2. Sign up for a service

3. Fill out a form

4. Read an article or get more information

5. Visit your website or store

6. Make an appointment

Etc…

Then, make sure you incorporate these 6 characteristics to get the results you’re looking for. Make your call-to action:

1. Visible - People read, react, make decisions and take action differently. Some make decisions right away (”You had me at hello.”) and some need more details (”I’m from Missouri.”). Place call-to-action links in the beginning, middle and end of the email so that recipients can click whenever they are ready.

2. Clear - Stick to simple words, short phrases, bulleted benefits and paragraphs of 1-3 short sentences. Include appropriate graphics and cut the clutter by making effective use of white space.

3. Compelling - Use action-oriented verbs and phrases: “buy now,” “call today,” “save” and so on.

4. Rewarding - Offer an incentive or reward for action. For example, “Act now and also receives…,” or “the First 100 respondents will be entered into a raffle to win…” The giveaway, or prize, you choose should be closely related to your product or service. That way, you will be targeting customers who are interested in what you have to offer, not just the latest gadget.

5. Urgent - The longer an email sits in an inbox, the less likely it is to be acted on. Create a sense of urgency to get a more immediate response. Try limiting the offer to a specific time period, to the “first 50 customers,” “while supplies last,” etc.

6. Direct - Your call-to-action links should go to the appropriate page on your website with more details on the specific product or service you’re promoting. If you don’t have a website, the call-to-action might be store locations to visit or a number to call for an appointment.

Keep in mind that, in addition to repeating your call-to-action, you can vary your call-to-action to appeal to different types of buyers (and to fit your sales cycle). For example: “Click here to buy now” will naturally work better with loyal customers. The softer, “Click here to learn more” may be better for newer prospects.

Topic 5 ~ Avoid Common Pitfalls ~

Read Your Email Message Backwards to Avoid Common Pitfalls

Here are some common problems to look out for:

1. Misspelled words - It’s a good idea to spell-check a document, but it’s not enough. A spell checker won’t catch every error.

2. Wrong word used - This is why a spell checker isn’t enough. A spell checker will only flag words it doesn’t recognize. It can’t tell if a legitimate word is used incorrectly. Some words commonly confused: accept, except; your, you’re; then, than; there, their, they’re; cite, site, sight; lay, lie; loose, loosen, lose. Also, look out for a missing “r” in the word “your.” It’s easy to overlook a sentence such as “Visit our Web site now to receive you free copy.”

3. Grammar error - Again, if you know you’re not a good writer, have someone else check your writing for grammatical errors. Mistakes make you look bad.

4. Punctuation error - This is another area where you’ll benefit from a review by someone who knows their stuff. If you’re determined to do it yourself, purchase a good grammar or style book. One of the most common punctuation problems: Too many stupid commas!

5. Vague or confusing statement - Make sure every sentence is crystal-clear. You don’t want your promotional message to raise more questions than it answers.

6. Illogical statement - Read over what you have written slowly. At the end of each paragraph, ask yourself: “Did that make sense?” Rewrite so that it does.

Topic 6 ~ Frequency of Sending Emails ~

How Often (Frequency) Should You Send Email?

There’s no quick answer to the frequency question. It depends on the goals for your email and the type of content you send. Some rough guidelines:

1. Mail at least once a month. Mail less often than this, and you risk being forgotten by recipients. Monthly is the bare minimum if you want to keep your brand or company name top of mind (a common email goal).

2. Let content be your guide. Look at what you provide readers and you’ll get a feel for proper frequency. Analyze how often the information changes and how quickly readers must receive it to act on it.

3. Work within your resources. A daily email requires many more resources than a monthly. Better a well-done monthly email than shoddy weekly or daily. It’s recommended to start with a monthly. Once that’s going smoothly, they can think about moving to weekly. You need to walk before you can run!

4. Watch for trends. Declining response, open, and click-through rates can be signs of list fatigue. Though some decrease is normal, watch carefully and cut back frequency if you see a problem. Don’t assume if the unsubscribe rate is stable you’re OK. Many people prefer to forward email directly to their delete folder rather than unsubscribe.

Topic 7 ~ Understanding Spam Filters ~

Understanding Spam Filters to Avoid Your Emails Get Junked!

If you send email campaigns long enough, you will inevitably run into spam filter issues. On average, you can expect 10-20% of your emails to just get lost in cyberspace, mostly due to overzealous spam filters. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix. If you want to avoid getting your emails junked by spam filters, you have to understand how they work.

Generally speaking, spam filters look at a long list of criteria to judge whether or not your email is junk. For example, they might look for spammy phrases like “CLICK HERE!” or “FREE! BUY NOW!”. They’ll assign points each time they see one of those phrases. Certain criteria get more points than others. Here’s a sample of criteria from Spam Assassin, one of the most popular spam filters out there:

• Talks about lots of money (.193 points)

• Describes some sort of breakthrough (.232 points)

• Looks like mortgage pitch (.297 points)

• Contains urgent matter (.288 points)

• Money back guarantee (2.051 points)

• Why Pay More? (1.249 points)

It’s easy to use “spammy” keywords in your email without even knowing it. Here are some common ways marketers unwittingly trigger spam filters with their campaigns:

1. Using spammy phrases, like “Click here!” or “Once in a lifetime opportunity!” too many times in your email. Sometimes, you can’t avoid phrases like “FREE SHIPPING!” but use them sparingly, and don’t do anything else risky.

2. Going crazy with exclamation points!!!!!!

3. USING ALL CAPS, WHICH IS LIKE YELLING IN EMAIL

4. Coloring their fonts bright red, or green

5. Coding sloppy HTML (such as by converting a Microsoft Word file to HTML)

6. Creating an HTML email that’s nothing but one big image, with no text (since spam filters can’t read images, they assume you’re a spammer that’s trying to trick ‘em)

7. Using the word “Test” in the subject line (agencies run into this all the time, when sending drafts to clients for approval)

Topic 8 ~ Why Email Marketing Does not Work? ~

If Your Email Marketing Does not Work, Think Again Why?

Before you arrive at the faulty conclusion that email marketing doesn’t work, let’s look at this from a different perspective for a moment that would make your emails ineffective.

First there’s what you are writing in the body of the email. If this is your first attempt to get in touch with a prospect, what are you putting in the email? A dissertation? If it’s longer than one or two paragraphs, it’s too long. Look at your emails like an initial cold call. You need to laser in and deliver a compelling opening statement that’s going to grab their interest and stimulate a conversation. Because there’s no one to cut you off in an email or stop you from persistent pontification, people have tendency to ramble on and on in an email, giving the prospect the life story of the product or service they want them to consider. Keep it short and focus on the one or two benefits, opening up the opportunity to have a dialogue. That’s it.

Second, are you sending attachments in the first email? No attachments! It’s hard enough sending an unsolicited email to a prospect. Now you’re adding more barriers and increasing the chances of your email winding up in their spam box or junk email folder. Some people have filters on their email that if an attachment is sent it automatically gets deleted. No attachment until that information in the attachment is solicited by the person.

Third, html or text? Once again, with all the email filters people use today, you will increase your odds by sending a text message only rather than trying to get fancy with formatting, graphics and pictures. The prospect really doesn’t care about how beautiful your email looks; they care about the core message. Besides, they will never even get a chance to see your beautiful masterpiece in an html email if it’s winding up in the trash.

Finally, you are using way too many spam words. As mentioned, the biggest enemy to email marketing or selling via email is the additional security that companies and individuals have on their network or computer. As such, the specific words you are using in the body of the email can be the culprit who is sending your email directly into the trash or spam box. In other words, you are using words that are often identified is spam and in turn, you email is getting flagged and deleted. Not even eye contact! The prospect is not getting a chance to, at the very least, see your email let alone read it and have a chance to respond accordingly.
